I Drip, I Flood, I Love, 2024
Mixed media on paper — pigment, acrylic, oil pastel
These works begin with the body, with love, and with the wish to hold something that cannot quite be held.
I work with pigment, acrylic and oil pastel. The materials spread, interrupt one another, cross the edges I give them. A line becomes a stain. A stain begins to suggest a body. Then the body disappears into something less recognisable.
There is a desire to hold what we love close enough that it becomes ours. But what does ‘ours’ mean here? Is it intimacy? Or is it the beginning of possession? Perhaps the hand cannot always tell the difference. The marks continue beyond the place where I intended them to stop. I drip. I flood. I love.
