I’ve been preoccupied lately with the circle shape and its extensive meaning analogous to linear time.
Circles are not linear structures, they do not have corners or endings to mark where one line begins and another one ends. We perceive
time as both linear and cyclical, as a line in which we move forward in a perpetual now point in an oscillatory act between
recollection and expectancy, balancing back and forth between the images of the past and the projections of the future. I very often
perceived myself as if I were moving in a circle, with a sense of repetition, a sense of stepping on my own foot-tracks over and over
again. Sometimes I perceive time spiralling into an upward motion in the shape of a circle. I imagine the energy of the circle like a
Hermetic Seal of Light so that cycles of growth can exist within it radiating vortexes of love.
The title was inspired by the play of the French composer Gérard Grisey - who explored the spectrum of tone colour between harmonic
overtones and noise - and matched my inner belief that time is just a concept we are all subjected to in this lifetime. I am seeking to
exteriorize the inner reality of colour and form, to project its inner dynamics into a visual space and time using human fragments,
holding hands, to construct the reality of joy and love in all its complexity.
